We have been railway modellers for some years and when we found out that there had not been a Model Railway Show in Scarborough for over 20 years, we decided to organise
such an event.
With the help of family and friends who helped on the day, this became a reality on the 6 May 2017. A total of 678 people came through the door . The show for 2018 saw
just under 600 .
The big news for this year , 2019, is that the show will be at The Old Parcel Office on Scarborough Station. This is a unique venue, a show on a NetworkRail mainline station.
This unique building , once a toilet block in the days when trains had no toilets, then a Parcel Office and now an arts centre.
There will be 15 layouts and three traders.
Well the day came and so did some rather cold weather, strong winds and sharp showers. This did not deter just under 600 adults, and children coming.
There was a real buzz
all day with many comments about what a great location for a model railway show.
To us going to a show is in the main about layouts , which can inspire us. Give us new ideas ,with operators who are friendly
Its nice to have some traders but too many small shows have people giving demonstrations or are there to advertise their society which can be of limited interest. Its great at a big show but not a local
For 2021we shall 15 layouts this year and 2 traders. This will depend on current rules by the goverment.
Look forward to seeing
